KBA Career Guidance: The Interview Process

During your career transition, we will help you prepare for interveiw by doing the following:

  • We will make sure you know where you're going and know how to get there.
  • We will give you an idea of how much time to allow for your interview.
  • We will make sure you know who to ask for by name and title.
  • We will share with you any additional information that will assist you with your interview.
  • We will inform you if the client will test you and how you should prepare.
  • We will confirm the date and the time of your interview with you as well as the client.
  • We will encourage you to practice interviewing with us if you feel it is necessary.
  • We will advise you what to wear to your interview.
  • We will share with you questions to ask the Interviewer.
  • We will be here to answer any questions during the interview process. After your interview, we will ask you to call us about your interview and what your thoughts and impressions are about the position. If you want to send a thank you note, we will assist you with that. Just ask for our assistance and we will be glad to share our expertise about any concern you have. 

Before you go in for an interview, we suggest you be prepared to answer the following questions:

  • Tell me about yourself.
  • Where do you see yourself one year from now?
  • What are you career goals?
  • What do you expect from a job?
  • What is your best quality, or what is your greatest asset?

The following are safe questions to ask your interviewer:

  • Is this a new position or will I be replacing somebody?
  • Can you tell me what the person was like who formerly held this job?
  • Could you describe the personality that would best fit this job, what would it be?
  • What do you think is the best and worst thing about this particular position?  

 The above questions convey interest about the job without sending potentially problematic signals.
